CMU-Pakistan Delegation Engages in Multi-Country TB Grant Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand

Team from CMU-Pakistan participated in Multi-country (MCG) South Asia Steering Committee Meeting (TB Grant) during 29th-31st January 2024 at Bangkok Thailand. The meeting was chaired by Dr Razia Fatima, National Coordinator (virtually) and Chair Person for MCG Steering Committee. Dr Mahboob Ul Haq presented the MCG progress and updates in Pakistan, Dr Sabira Tahseen updated about TB control activities in the country and Mr Zaheer Ahmad presented the financial updates. Furthermore, updates were also provided by the Provincial management of PTP KP and Balochistan

Pakistan Sets New Targets for Treatment of TB.

Empowering Healthcare Professionals: Free Online TB Management Course with Certificate.

In an era where flexibility and accessibility are paramount, the TB Management Course offers a comprehensive online solution for healthcare workers. This self-paced program delves into the global TB scenario and specifically addresses the situation in Pakistan. Covering diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies, the course includes interactive elements, such as decision-making scenarios in diverse settings.

Tailored for healthcare workers at secondary and primary levels, the curriculum aligns with the National Guidelines on Management of Tuberculosis 2019. With eight modules, each requiring a minimum of one hour for completion, participants enjoy the freedom to progress at their own pace, with the added convenience of saving their progress for later.

This training course on TB Management is entirely FREE and affiliated with SHAHEED ZULFIQAR ALI BHUTTO MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (PIMS Islamabad). Upon successfully completing the course, participants, especially doctors with a valid PMCD Reg. No, will receive a certificate and 6 CME Credit hours, contributing to their professional development. Empowering Change: National TB Strategic Plans for 2024-2026 Unveiling at Dissemination Event.

Right now, an impactful National Dissemination event is unfolding, spearheaded by the Common Management Unit, Ministry of Health Pakistan. The gathering, graced by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination Islamabad, USAID Pakistan, WHO, and JSI, is unveiling National, Provincial, and Regional TB strategic plans for 2024-2026.

Chaired by DG Health, Dr Muhammad Ahmad Kazi and National Coordinator CMU, the leadership sets the tone with an inspiring opening address, emphasizing the pivotal role of strategic planning in eradicating TB. According to the National Strategic Plan 2024-2026, the ambitious goal is to reduce the TB mortality rate by 36% in 2026. Partner representatives highlighted the collaborative efforts needed for a disease-free future. 

Moreover, the provincial representatives addressed stakeholders at the TB Dissemination Event. A collective call to action emphasizes the pivotal role of strategic planning in eradicating TB and fostering collaboration. Mr. Mehmood Aslam, Secretary Health-Govt of KP, PTP Manager Balouchistan, Punjab PTP Manager, PTP KP addressed the audience.
