01 Day Capacity Building Training for Counsellors of Federal (ICT, AJK & GB)

On 26th August 2025, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination (MoNHSR&C), through the Common Management Unit (CMU) for AIDS, TB, and Malaria, organized a 01-Day Capacity Building Training for HIV Counsellors at the Burney Auditorium, NIH, PM Health Complex, Chak Shahzad, Islamabad.

Experts from WHO, APLHIV and PIMS led technical sessions during the activity, that brought together counsellors from Federal (ICT), Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), while counsellors nominated by the Provincial Director, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa AIDS Control Program, under the Integrated HIV, Hepatitis & Thalassemia Control Program (IHHTCP-KP), joined the sessions virtually.

This training was planned following a joint assessment conducted by the CMU, which identified major gaps in counselling services at ART Centres, particularly across the northern regions.

The initiative was made possible through the leadership of Dr. Ayaz Mustafa, Deputy National Coordinator – CMU towards strengthening counsellors’ technical capacity and standardize counselling practices to ensure integrated, stigma-free, and patient-centered HIV service delivery across Pakistan.
